Rightio, I've got a little bit to say about this
This blew me away when I first saw it! Heck, it still does!
Dean’s going to kill baby Sam?!!! Say what now?!?!

I was riveted yet horrified at the same time. That you then up the ante by having evil!Sam kill his own mother...*picks jaw up off floor*
The storyline is nothing short of ingenious and oh so very heartbreaking, not to mention chilling!
The manips in this (both scene and audio) are outstanding and utterly convincing! The mixture of clips here is incredible; it’s a real testament to your conscientiousness in finding THE most perfect scenes to pull this off. Barely two clips here actually belong back to back, so for you to make this flow as effortless as it does is amazing.
The music is such a haunting and ominous piece. You only have to hear the very start of it to know that it’s going to be a dark vid; just
how dark is another thing entirely.
There’s a quiet menace lurking in those first three scenes; the dark, shadowy images and Dean walking the house - his old house! - at night, emerging into the light but with a look of desolate resignation upon his face. You really get a sensation of Dean’s laboured walk as he ascends those stairs.
The following scenes precede to make my blood run cold. Although we know it’s Dean, the anonymity of those scenes, from the focus on the shoes to the hand on the door, puts the viewer into those steps.
The parallel of Dean once again emerging from the shadows, but this time, with his face still cast in darkness illustrates the shift in his demeanour, as though in that walk down the hall he has steeled himself for what he is about to do.
The “
hey Sammy” just about kills me. The familiar and loving tone of it contrasts heavily against the impending deed.
At this stage, just as I’m wrapping my mind around Dean standing over the crib of his baby brother, we’re confronted with the ill-omened imagery of what Sam will become and do. I loved the clip choice here. The clip of Dean from Devil’s Trap was particularly disturbing, and in colour they were especially vivid and compelling, heightened only by the soundtrack of evil!Sam’s mockingly, triumphant laugh.
OMG! the “
shhh”! How on earth?! That was truly amazing.
I’m in awe of how you turned the Pilot on it’s head here! By doing so, you're creating an incredible amount of subtext to this video that is quite overwhelming to think about. I mean, just the thought of Dean being the figure that Mary sees in the nursery does my head in.
GAH! 0:41-48 is unbelievably gut wrenching. It’s horrible to even contemplate but it’s an incredibly powerful scene. I thought the clip of Dean was a great choice, it’s almost as if he’s trying to convince himself that this innocent baby before him indeed turns evil.
I was almost glad of evil!Sam’s appearance, if for nothing else than it relieved that awful thought of Dean standing over Sam’s crib with a pillow; and yet, your heart sinks to realise he now has the upper hand and that Dean has failed. The twist of the knife, however, is to see Sam give himself demon blood!
The joy in his face at 0:58 and the gloating grin at 1:03 is chilling. He’s enjoying this! There’s masochist tendencies in this evil!Sam portrayal that I don’t think I’ve seen in others. The expressions from Dean here are perfect in response; even though he’s obviously seen what his brother is capable of, it seems like he’s experiencing a whole new level of disbelief.
OH.MY.GOSH! How evil must Sam be to kill his own mother?!
The intent in Sam’s face at 1:24 takes on a whole new sinister meaning; and to have Dean there, struggling to free himself, forced to watch...

You've done exceptionally well to find scenes of Dean whereby his expression of horror equals watching what happens to his mother. It's painful to watch Dean watching on.
The intensity generated through this last section, from the music to the close ups, to the in-clip zooms and finally with the very last scene of Mary on the ceiling is a fitting, albeit heartbreaking, end to the vid.
I love the choice of b&w for this, not only in an effort to amalgamate the differing clips but because it matches the depressing, devastating mood of the vid as well as conveying it’s place in the past. It also lends itself beautifully to the play on light and darkness. In contrast, the coloured memories are all the more dramatic.
There was something so frighteningly real about this story and I was completely transported into it. It’s easily one of the most plausible AU’s I think I’ve ever seen.
EXCELLENT job!
